The competition consists of three qualifying courses that everybody will run. Competitors’ results from each of the qualifying courses will be combined to produce their overall ranking. The top third of competitors in each division from the qualifying round will advance to the finals which will be a single longer, harder course to decide who is the champion.
Qualifying Courses
The qualifying courses (A and B) will be run simultaneously in different parts of the park. The courses all have checkpoints to complete as you progress through your run. If you fail by touching the floor or anything that is out of bounds, you must return to the last checkpoint. For the qualifying round, you can retry the obstacles as many times as you need to complete them or until the time limit runs out.
This competition uses “furthest fastest” rules which means your ranking determined primarily by how many checkpoints you complete and secondarily by the time it took you to reach your furthest checkpoint. This means, for example, someone who completes 6 checkpoints will beat someone who completes only 5, regardless of the time but they would lose to someone who completes 6 checkpoints faster than them.
Finals Course
Similar to the qualifying courses, the finals course has checkpoints and a time limit. The same “furthest fastest” scoring system as for the qualifying round is used. Unlike the qualifying round, there are no retries allowed in the final. This means that if you fail an obstacle, your run is over.
The finals will be run in reverse order of ranking in the qualifiers, meaning 10th place runs first and 1st place runs last. This rewards good performance in the qualifiers by giving higher placing competitors a later starting position.
